A five week course for families with a long term drug or alcohol user

Footsteps training for those living with a long term substance misuser where there will be an opportunity to learn more about substance misuse, to develop coping strategies and to meet others in a similar situation.

Week 1 –
Participants will:–

• Agree a contract
• Receive information about drugs and alcohol
• Impact of drugs and alcohol on the family
• Consider reactions to addiction

Week 2 –
Participants will:–

• Consider cycle of change
• Consider attachment
• Consider loss

Week 3 –
Participants will:–

• Consider stress and its relief
• Survival techniques
• Assertiveness

Week 4 –
Participants will: –

• Hear a recovered drug/alcohol user’s story

Week 5 –
Participants will:–

• Enjoy pampering!
